Drag & Drop Outlook Attachments into SharePoint

Drag entire emails or individual attachments from Outlook onto SharePoint list items with Office 2 SharePoint—plus quick tips for deleting attachments.

Drag & Drop Outlook Attachments into SharePoint

Drag & Drop for SharePoint tasks

You received an email about a task and want the whole team to see it directly in SharePoint? Simply open your task list in the Office 2 SharePoint workspace panel in Outlook, drag the email onto the correct list item, and release the mouse. The message uploads immediately, the form opens for an optional comment, and Save completes the process—SharePoint marks the entry with a paperclip for everyone to see.

Upload only the attachment you need

Sometimes you only need the PDF attachment, not the full email. With Office 2 SharePoint there is no need to download the file first. Drag the attachment straight from the message into the workspace window and drop it onto the right list item. The file uploads instantly, you can adjust metadata if required, and one tap on Save wraps it up.

Remove attachments just as fast

If a file is no longer needed or landed on the wrong list item, open the entry, select Delete beside the attachment, and save again. The list item is instantly clean.

Wrap-up and download

The simplest ideas are often the most effective—and for us that means “Smarter is beautiful.” 😀
