NEW: We’ve built an even better raffle experience. Visit Smarter Tombola to delight your employees.
Easter comes with many customs and traditions—from colorful eggs and special dishes to Easter bonfires. Many companies have traditions of their own and run an annual raffle for employees. Even with remote work, no one has to miss out: with our solution, you can run an Easter raffle right inside SharePoint. That’s exactly what Yamaha Motor Australia did after discovering our Smarter Tombola—they’ve already held their first virtual Easter raffle.

Yamaha Motor Australia: Easter raffle in SharePoint
In a previous article, we introduced our solution for a virtual raffle. Yamaha Motor Australia found our solution and wanted to run an Easter raffle in SharePoint. We originally built Smarter Tombola for the modern experience in SharePoint Online. However, the client uses SharePoint 2016—an early version—so our web part wasn’t an option. Being Smarter Business Solutions, we created a smart workaround.
We quickly developed a visual web part for SP2016 based on Smarter Tombola. The key idea: a dedicated SharePoint list stores configurations for multiple raffles. This lets you tailor the web part for any occasion with properties like:
- Raffle occasion
- Whether the configuration is currently active
- Ticket color
- Subject and body of the email sent to participants
Here’s the final result from the Yamaha Social Club, who were able to run their Easter raffle in SharePoint this year:

Thankyou everyone for your assistance with this. Your effort has been amazing.
The solution is exactly what we need and is now working perfectly.
Please see below taken from out Sharepoint Dev site – it’s Still “work in progress” but just wanted to show you we have it up and running.
Thank you so much 🙂
